Yesterday, the second round of the Proffix Swiss Bike Cup took place in Haiming, Austria. With 3 riders, the WHEELER Pro Team traveled to the Ötztal on Friday. Ramona had to forego the race due to her 4-month medical-related failure.
After some rain in the night on Sunday, our junior, Luca Schätti, was the first to start at 08.30. With starting number 50, he crossed the finish line as the 7th after the first lap. A good start. Unfortunately, then a flatfoot at the rear wheel stopped him in the second round shortly after the rear Techzone. As far as the next Techzone, where the mechanic was waiting with the new bike, it was still a long way. Luca lost valuable time. But he did not give up. He finished the race on the 45th place of 85 started.
At 10.30am our U23 riders Manuel Fasnacht and Joris Ryf were in the turn. With starting number 3 Manuel started from the front row. After a good start, Manuel drove constantly around the tenth place. In the fourth round, he then fought two places further and finished the race in the final 7th place. Joris entered the race with 9th place. After a good start, Joris could not hold the high pace, however, and went to the second round as twenty-sixth. With a constant lap time he was able to hold his own in this position and finished the race in the final round on the 25th place of 79 competitors.
In 2 weeks, the next race will take place at the Bike Days in Solothurn. The complete WHEELER Pro team will be back at the start. We're glad.
