Function
On the top-of-the-line OFF ROAD-models, precious and light-weight parts of DT SWISS are being used, e.g. dampers or complete wheelsets. The same goes for the as elegant as light-weight and functional pedals of the famed producer CRANK BROTHERS. Various parts from RITCHEY and FSA, e.g. stems and seatposts, are also light-weight, reliable and functional. As are well-known rim manufacturers ALEX's and RIGIDA's double chamber rims with double and single eyelets which are being used throughout

In terms of kinematics, a lot of innovations have been cranked out in recent years. Nowadays not only the stiffness but also the sensitivity of the suspension can be adjusted to individual needs and preferences with a simple flick of a wrist. In order to reduce the suspension's movement in climbs to an absolute minimum, suppliers have developped various systems such as «ProPedal Damping», «Motion Control» or «Power Valve». Down to the entry-level models, WHEELER bicycles come with one of these systems – or the option to lock-out the suspension entirely with a lever. Of course brand products from renowned manufacturers such as MARZOCCHI, ROCK SHOX, MAGURA, MANITOU, FOX and DT SWISS are being used.

For the rest of the equipment WHEELER deliberately restricts itself to a small number of all the more renowned suppliers. For example, the drivetrains come from the two big manufacturers SRAM and SHIMANO and the brakes from either MAGURA, AVID or SHIMANO. All WHEELER bicycles intended for sports-oriented riding come with hydraulic disc brakes and large-diameter rotors as standard equipment. In terms of ergonomics, WHEELER has decided to go for SHIMANO's new RapidFire shifters which have become even more ergonomic and shift even faster and more precise than ever before. Only on the most expensive models where every single gram of weight counts SRAM's lightest shifting levers are being mounted.

Within the range of ON ROAD-models, the commuter bicycles with a closed chainguard and drum brakes are not only convenient: They also demand hardly any maintenance and are very reliable. For these reasons, WHEELER puts a combination of hub gears and roller brakes from SHIMANO's Nexus groupset on its URBAN CHIC-models. For hilly regions, we offer combinations of hub and derailleur gears such as SRAM's «Dualdrive». If you are looking for a more sporty bicycle, the «PREMIUM ACTIVITY» and «SPORT LIGHT»-models offer an enormous variety of gears thanks to their derailleur gears. This allows you to either climb up steep hills or to keep the pace high. All of our road bikes come with triple chainrings as a standard equipment, giving non-professionals a fair chance on those climbs as well. Thus you will always find a gear to your likes that allows you to keep up your momentum even on long and steep climbs.

To make WHEELER commuter bicycles as versatile as possible, they are generally equipped with a carrier and a kickstand. Apart from the «CLASSIC PERFORMANCE»- series, these top-quality parts stem from the Swiss manufacturer PLETSCHER.

Depending on their intended range of use, WHEELER's ON ROAD-models get the matching brakeset. On the SPORT LIGHT- and PREMIUM ACTIVITY-models, hydraulic disc brakes offer brute deceleration as known from mountain bikes. Lightweight V-brakes are there to do the same on the CROSSOVER COMFORT- and CLASSIC PERFORMANCE-models: On all entry-level models, the «Power Modulator» anti-lock braking system on the front brake prevents any unintended rollovers. Finally, the Nexus roller brake is ideally suited for the URBAN CHIC-models: It works reliable under all weather conditions, and it's almost maintenance-free on top of that.

Comfort
To prevent saddle pain from lessening your pleasure on longer rides, every bike gets the ideally suited and anatomically correct saddle for each sex. Suspension forks and suspended seatposts are used on many of the commuter bikes to offer even more comfort. Stems and handlebars are chosen according to the bike's category and the rider's likes. The width, length and adjustability of the cockpit are a decisive factor here. For every type of rider and each sex, the best suited grips and brake levers are being selected. Ergonomical lock-on grips are being used more and more often on mountain bikes as well, offering a more comfortable position on longer rides.

WHEELER strives to put perfectly suited tires on every bike for the intended goup of customers. On Off Road  bikes, the volume of tires is of increasing importance. Entry-level bicycles need a well rolling tire that offers sufficient grip. Mileage and puncture resistance are the decisive factors on commuter bikes. Therefore WHEELER relies on brand products of SCHWALBE and CONTINENTAL on most of its bicycles.

Safety
WHEELER does not compromise on safety: All of WHEELER's commuter bicycles are equipped with a strong halogen headlight, backlights with side light function and reflective sidewalls on the puncture resistant tires. Thus you are still well visible even when you have to wait in the middle of the street before turning to a side, and it might take a while until you have to use the included pump despite running over some small bits of broken glass. In addition, hub dynamos are being used throughout, reliably delivering power under all weather conditions. Thanks to the included lock, your WHEELER commuter bicycle is protected against theft as well.
